AMBULANCE DRIVER MADAGASCAR
PASCALIN
The ambulance driver Pascalin has been taking pregnant women suffering from complications to the hospital in Fotadrevo ever since February of 2016. A Fotadrevo native and long term driver of an international mining company residing in the region, Pascalin is familiar with all the tiny villages and every speck of dirt road in the area like nobody else. His main task, he states, is to rescue pregnant women. In order to fulfil this task, he heads out to community health centres calling out an emergency. Due to poor road conditions and remote settings, one ambulance mission usually takes 4-6 hours and is always accompanied by a midwife. To give the midwife a hand, this father of two children will be trained in First Aid starting April of 2017.
